Welcome to Vicki’s Prayer Stuff
Note the messy desk?
The mess represents the clutter of our lives. The posts you find on the desk will hopefully help you find some peace through prayer in the midst of the chaos…
We want to have conversation here about the basics of prayer and spiritual fitness.
If you are new to prayer- thanks for joining me. Ask questions if you wish or give me your thoughts. If you are an old timer- join the conversation.
Speaking of the basics of prayer-
There are a gazillion things that prayer means. Mostly it means conversation with God.
There are a gazillion ways to pray. There is not a “right way” and God is not giving report cards on prayer performance. We are going to talk here about lots of ways to interact with God and increase our spiritual fitness.

One easy way to try to organize your thoughts while praying is called “ACTS”.
Try ACTS when you pray:
Adoration – Talk to God about your love for him and about His character (The more you talk to Him about it, the more you will believe and experience the “feelings” of your love for Him)
Confession – Get it off your chest. Tell him your weaknesses, faults, and worries (He knows them anyway- but it is good for you)
Thanksgiving – Thank Him for what He has done and what He is doing
Supplication – This means ask Him for what you need or for what you are concerned about for other folks
Praying with ACTS might take you 5 minutes a day- or an hour. There is not a “right” length of time. You just experiment and see what happens.
Over the years, I’ve experimented with lots of formats when talking with God. It is good adventure to try out new things. ACTS is a good-tried-and -true prayer organizer.

Let me know how it works for you.
Do you have a favorite “format” to organize your thoughts while praying?
